WHO WE ARE / WHAT WE BELIEVE:

"To know Christ and to make Him known"

A CARING AND EQUIPPING COMMUNITY

It is the mission of Trinity Covenant Church to lift up the Lord Jesus Christ and glorify God by corporate praise and worship, by ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of those within our congregation and by equipping one another in the power of the Holy Spirit, to do the work of our Lord in our community, in our nation, and in the world; so that individuals may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and grow to maturity in Him.

HISTORY:

Trinity Covenant Church of Manchester was established in 1892, when a small group of faithful Christians felt the need for a community-oriented, Bible teaching church to minister to Swedish immigrants in the Manchester area. From its beginning, the church (then called the "Swedish Evangelical Mission Church") emphasized:

MISSION:

We seek deeper meaning.
We're serious about developing spiritual maturity. Regardless of your age, at Trinity you can acquire the tools you need to go deeper in your understanding of God and your relationship with Him. We believe the Christian life is a journey -- and we all aren't necessarily at the same spot on the road. But through worship, prayer, study, service and witness, we can discover where that road leads as we seek to live lives that honor God.
We serve God together.
In thanksgiving for what Jesus Christ has done for us, we serve God by discovering and using the gifts He has given to each one, to make a difference in the lives of people around us -- in the church, in our community, and in the world.
We believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Everyone sins, and sin has consequences -- death and separation from God, now and forever. But Jesus paid the penalty for our sins when He died on the cross, and He overcame death when He rose again on that first Easter. Anyone who believes this in faith and trusts Christ with his or her life is reconciled to God and experiences rebirth, a fresh start. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is established and the promise of life in heaven with God is received. This relationship changes one's values, lifestyle and personal choices. We seek to be more like Him in everything we do.
We're friends.
Friendships don't have to be superficial, even in today's hurry-up world, and you don't have to be around Trinity people long to discover we really do like one another. Grounded in our faith in Jesus Christ, we're committed to God and each other. "How are you doing" isn't just a throw-away line at Trinity. Care is genuine. Our purpose as a community of faith is to discover what it means to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. We hope you would like to know us better, and we'd like to get to know you!
The Bible is true.
We believe the Bible is God's message to all people. It is wholly true and reliable, and is His instruction manual for all aspects of daily life.

Early members of Covenant churches (we've been around for over 100 years) often said "where is it written?" when seeking biblical answers to tough questions.

We affirm that approach today. At the same time, we may not always agree among ourselves in matters of interpretation. Let's face it, on some lesser things, faithful Christians have disagreed for hundreds of years. Probably always will.

Finally...

We believe we are members of the wider Christian community. Trinity is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church, a protestant denomination of 650 churches and over 120,000 members.

We recognize that the church of Jesus Christ is made up of all true believers worldwide, regardless of denominational stripe. There is one true church, with many local congregations.

At Trinity, there is an air of excitement and anticipation, and a renewed sense that in following and serving Christ, hope can be found, answers to life's problems can be discovered, and lasting friendships can be enjoyed!
