PRAYER OPPORTUNITIES:

We are all called to pray.  It is our responsibility and our privilege as God’s children to pray.  Prayer helps us draw close to God and allows us to be involved in the work that He is doing.  Our prayers help others in their Christian walk.  We grow in our love for one another and we experience the inexpressible joy of spending time with our God.  Listed below are some opportunities for you be involved in the ministry of prayer at Trinity:

Monthly Prayer Calendar – The calendar is available on the last Sunday of the month prior to each service.  You may also obtain it from the stand in the foyer or from our Trinity website.  Please let me know if you would like to have prayer needs for a particular ministry included on the calendar.

Sunday morning prayer – A couple of us meet at 7:15 in the Prayer Loft (the door to the right of the organ) to pray for the morning services.  It is a blessed time to focus our thoughts towards God and pray for the power of His Holy Spirit to prepare the hearts of those who will come into His House.

Intense Intercessors – There are currently 13 people who intercede with focused prayers for areas that impact our church, such as business meetings, special outreach events and opportunities like the Christmas Musical and VBS, Alpha, and concerns from the various Leadership or Ministry teams.  As needs are communicated, they are sent by email or phone.  These intercessors have commented on how being a part of this prayer team has helped them to feel more connected with the work that God is doing at Trinity. 

Prayer Tree – This is a phone chain or email distribution to communicate prayer needs that primarily affect the physical/health needs of those in our church or those close to them. 

Prayer Team for Sunday mornings – This team is still in the development stage.  It will be comprised of men and women who would be available after the service to pray for anyone who came forward for prayer. A monthly schedule and simple guidelines will be provided.

Prayer for Missionaries – The Covenant Church compiles a prayer guide that includes the Covenant missionaries and information about their calling and the country they serve.  The Missions Committee also provides updates that assist in our praying.

Monthly Prayer Meeting – The 2^nd Tuesday of the month has been designated for our church prayer meeting.  We meet in the Prayer Loft from 7:00-8:00 p.m.  Even if you cannot join us at church, we would encourage you to set this time aside to intercede for the church leadership and the pastoral staff asking God for wisdom and guidance and as God leads you for our church family.  Pray also that as a church we will seek God with all our hearts desiring to honor Him with our service and ministry.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast – Beginning in April, the men will meet in Fellowship Hall at church at 7:30 a.m. on the last Saturday of each month. 

Women’s Prayer Breakfast - The women meet every Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at Valentino's restaurant.

There are so many more opportunities for prayer – the list is endless.  If God speaks to your heart about an opportunity, please let us know.  Our most fervent prayer is that more and more we will all desire a closer, deeper relationship with God and one another through prayer. 

Worship God in the Holy Spirit

First, pray to God the Father, thanking Him for His blessings.  Acknowledge entire dependence on Him & express your trust in His love & care.  Wait for the assurance of His presence.

Then, direct your prayer to the Lord Jesus & ask for grace to abide in Him always, for without Him you can do nothing. Look to Him as your Lord, your preserver, your life & give yourself into His keeping.

Finally, pray to the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to strengthen you so that what you ask of the Father & the Son may happen. He is the dispenser of power & gifts of the Father & the Lord Jesus.  ~Andrew Murray from The Best of Andrew Murray on Prayer
