About Recovery and Support Groups

Gerald May, M.D. in his book Addiction and Grace defines an addiction as "a state of compulsion, obsession, or preoccupation that enslaves a person's will and desire".  This condition displaces and overshadows our deepest need for a life in harmony with God's purposes.  We believe people who struggle with addictions of various kinds can find hope in Jesus Christ as they grow to be conformed to His likeness.  Toward that end, we have groups for men and women that help them to experience Holy Spirit empowered life-change in the context of  a confidential and caring community.

"But the really good news here is that the power of habit can be broken.  Habits can be changed.  And God will help us to change them—though he will not do it for us—because he has a vital interest in who we become." — Dallas Willard in The Divine Conspiracy

Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves; Keep me both outwardly in my body and inwardly in my soul, that I may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.
